Hello! This is my website to house my academic projects, papers, and writing interests amongst other topics.
I am currenty a second year PhD Student at the University of Colorado, Boulder pursuining a degree in Linguistics. At university, I am part of both the LECs Lab and the Boulder NLP Group. My research focuses on neurosymbolic approaches to NLP that not only integrates linguistic knowledge to better machine learning techniques, but also utilizing machine learning and LLMs to expound upon linguistic inquiry. I use this work to create technologies focused on improving the availability of language technologies for language users of various varieties of Quechua, Arapahoe, and other low-technology-resourced languages.
In 2023, I finished my degree with honors at the University of Southern California pursuing a BS in Computational Linguistics and a BA in International Relations. My work was primarily tied to the Language Processing Lab and to Guarani Resource research.
I would describe myself as a nerd who can spend endless hours teaching myself phonetic transcriptions, reading up on machine learning techniques, and emailing my academic friends with paper ideas. In 2022, I really explored my love of language learning as I studied abroad in Santiago, Chile at the University of Chile and the Pontifica Catolica University for the semester. I also enjoyed my recent Maymester to Peru in 2022 to study indigenous langauge loss and preservation.
Coming from rural Arkansas, finding a passion for linguistics USC has given me a totally new life. Leading that dream up with attending grad school and pursuing my research in computational linguistics has been incredibly fufilling.
On the day to day, I love to rock climb, mountaineer, ice climb, and come up with yoga flows. Going to an arts high school in Arkansas, I have developed a deep passion for poetry and can often times be seen jotting down my thoughts on the notes app of my phone.
